KDE Gear 24.12.2: Improvements in Dolphin, Itinerary, Tokodon, and More KDE Applications
The KDE Project has released KDE Gear 24.12.2, the second maintenance update of the KDE Gear 24.12 series. This new version brings multiple improvements and bug fixes for various applications in the KDE ecosystem, including Dolphin, Itinerary, and Tokodon, among others.
Improvements in Dolphin and KDE Itinerary
One of the main changes in this update is the resolution of an issue in the Dolphin file manager that affected keyboard focus in X11 when minimizing and restoring the application.
On the other hand, KDE Itinerary has received significant improvements in extracting travel documents, optimizing compatibility with Bilkom and PKP PDF tickets. Support for the new Deutsche Bahn API has also been added, making it easier to query public transport information. Additionally, access to public transport data in services like Digitransit in Finland and Rolph in Germany has been restored, along with improvements in extracting tickets from American Airlines, Brightline, Southwest, and Koleo.
Fixes in Tokodon and Akonadi Optimization
The Mastodon client, Tokodon, has received a key fix that resolves an issue where the application would get stuck on the loading screen when account authentication failed.
Furthermore, IMAP tags have been optimized, and SQL queries have been adjusted in the Akonadi background service, used by KDE PIM applications, to ensure compatibility with the limits imposed by SQL engines.
Other Improvements in KDE Applications
The Kalk calculator has improved its history function, and other applications have also received updates, including Akregator, Elisa, KMail, and Kdenlive. Additionally, the update covers a wide range of apps such as Alligator, Filelight, KAddressBook, Kamera, Kate, Konqueror, Okular, Skanpage, and Spectacle.
Users can check the complete changelog for all details and are recommended to update to KDE Gear 24.12.2 as soon as it becomes available in the stable repositories of their GNU/Linux distribution, especially if they use the KDE Plasma desktop environment.
