Release of KDE Plasma 6.3.2
On February 25, 2025, the KDE Project released KDE Plasma 6.3.2, the second maintenance update of the KDE Plasma 6.3 desktop environment series, aimed at fixing bugs, crashes, and other issues reported by users.
This update introduces support for WebP and animated GIFs in the Spectacle screenshot tool. Additionally, it now shows a warning notification when WebP support is missing and suggests that WebP is a better option than GIF.
Regressions affecting the functionality of automatic tablet mode on certain devices and issues related to icon selection on the desktop were fixed. An error that prevented the Plasma desktop and panels from appearing when applying a new Global Theme was also corrected, as well as issues in implementing the “prefer symbolic icons” behavior in the system tray area.
Additionally, a visual issue with extremely long weather station names in the weather widget's pop-up layout and an error causing the renaming text field for files on the desktop to have an incorrect color when using a combination of light and dark themes, such as Breeze Twilight, were resolved.
The "Change screen brightness" setting in power management now only affects built-in laptop screens, avoiding brightness issues related to timing on external monitors. Several bugs in the Plasma Discover graphical package manager were also fixed.
For a complete list of changes included in KDE Plasma 6.3.2, see the full changelog at kde.org.
It is recommended to update installations to this version for a more stable and reliable Plasma desktop experience.
